After Sunday's 2-2 draw with relegated Leicester, Marinakis had a heated exchange with manager Santo. Sun Sport has now revealed that Marinakis' temper flared further in the tunnel at the City Ground as the Greek businessman lost his temper once more with Nuno before venting his frustration at Awoniyi himself and the medical staff. As per the report, the incident 'went far beyond what fans and TV cameras witnessed on the pitch'. Marinakis has now released a statement on the incident as fans and pundits raged at his public argument with the Portuguese coach.
WHAT MARINAKIS SAID
The Greek businessman later released a statement that read: “Everybody – coaching staff, players, supporters and including myself – we were frustrated around the injury of Taiwo and the medical staff’s misjudgement on Taiwo’s ability to continue the game.
“This is natural, this is a demonstration of the passion we feel for our club. Let’s all be grateful, passionate, and keep on dreaming!”
