Newcastle United defender DeAndre Yedlin endured a difficult game in their 0-0 draw with Norwich City on Saturday.
On the chalkboard
The American right-back started the clash with the relegation-threatened Canaries but did not last the 90 minutes.
Indeed, he was substituted on 54 minutes to be replaced by January signing Valentino Lazaro.
Throughout his time on the pitch, Yedlin roundly failed to impact proceedings.
Per WhoScored, he had 42 touches of the ball at St James’ Park and, while he had a pass success rate of 88%, he was anonymous defensively.
Yedlin did lay on one key pass but he failed to complete a dribble from right-back, despite attempting one, and he also failed to win an aerial duel, having contested four.
Amazingly, the former Tottenham Hotspur defender also failed to win a single tackle as he took on Todd Cantwell throughout the game, though he was shown a yellow card.

A blow
Manager Steve Bruce needs Yedlin to be at his best.
The likes of Paul Dummett, Emil Krafth and Jetro Willems are all absent through injury, meaning there was an opportunity for Yedlin to prove his worth at right-back.
Instead, against Norwich, he flattered to deceive and this is against the team that began the day bottom of the Premier League. With Newcastle already lacking defensive options, this is not only a blow to the player, but also to Bruce who has been scrambling to put a backline together at times this term.
There is good news, however, with Lazaro signed in January. He may only have just arrived at the club but such was Yedlin’s poor performance that the new signing could be drafted in immediately.
With that in mind, it looks as though the United States star could be facing a significant period out of the team; he should be severely worried by recent events.
Judging by his performance against Daniel Farke’s men, the defender has brought that on himself.
Meanwhile, Danny Rose has revealed why he joined Newcastle!
