However, the evening could have been a much more comfortable one for Erik ten Hag's team had captain Fernandes had taken the chances he had. The 29-year-old took to social media to apologise to everyone who was let down by him failing to win them vital points in the fantasy game and promised to make up for it.
"Nothing beats the feeling of being back at Old Trafford," he wrote in an Instagram post. "Ps: fantasy league managers that trust me sorry for yesterday… I will repay you."
